Cartridge Dust Collection Units are industrial filtration systems with cartridge filters for safely capturing dust at its source or through a central system in processes requiring high airflow.

Available from 2,500 to 40,000 m³/h, these systems provide high-performance dust control for chemical, pharmaceutical, food, solid-dosage, powder-transfer, weighing, filling, emptying, and central extraction applications.

What Is a Cartridge Dust Collection Unit?

A cartridge dust collection unit is high-efficiency filtration equipment that separates dust through filter cartridges and releases or recovers cleaned air.

It can be used in high-airflow central extraction lines, processes with multiple dust sources, indoor or outdoor installations, hygienic applications requiring stainless-steel construction, and combustible-dust processes requiring ATEX evaluation.

Key Technical Features

Airflow: High-airflow design from 2,500 to 40,000 m³/h.
Pressure Range: Configurable for process and fan pressure requirements from -10 to +30 kPa.
ATEX Level: System selection can be made according to explosion-risk assessment in Zones 0–2.
Containment: Suitable containment approaches can be applied for OEB 1–3 powder processes.
Housing: Durable indoor or outdoor construction with optional stainless-steel fabrication.
Explosion Protection: Solutions can be considered for Kst values up to 300 bar·m/s.

The housing can be produced with paint, coating, or stainless-steel options according to site conditions.

Smart Filter Cleaning

Automatic pulse-jet or intelligent cleaning removes accumulated dust and supports filter life and system efficiency.

Heat Recovery Option

Heat recovery from exhaust air and system integration for improved energy efficiency can be considered for suitable processes.

ATEX and Explosion Protection Assessment

Explosion protection for cartridge dust collection units should be assessed not only by airflow. Minimum ignition energy, explosion class, Kst value, area zone, extraction point, and process conditions should also be evaluated.

For reference, see the EU ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU for equipment and protective systems intended for potentially explosive atmospheres.

MIE Value: Special assessment is made for dusts with MIE above 3 mJ or lower ignition energy.
St Class: Protection equipment is selected according to explosion severity for St1 and St2 dusts.
Kst 300 bar·m/s: Explosion venting, flameless venting, or isolation solutions can be considered according to Kst.
Hybrid Mixtures: Hybrid mixtures containing dust and solvent vapour require special risk analysis.
