CAV Constant Airflow Control Units
Mechanical and Motorised Constant Airflow Control Solutions
CAV Constant Airflow Control Units are airflow control devices used in ventilation systems to deliver or extract the required constant fresh-air volume for each space.
Mechanical CAV units regulate airflow mechanically without an electric actuator, whereas motorised CAV units provide constant airflow control through an electric actuator. Both solutions help maintain the set airflow rate despite changes in system pressure.

Constant Airflow Control
Helps maintain a constant fresh-air or exhaust-air volume in ventilation systems.
Mechanical and Motorised Types
Mechanical-control or electric-actuator motorised options can be used according to project requirements.
Circular and Rectangular Casing
Can be applied with a casing structure suitable for round or rectangular duct systems.
What Is a CAV Constant Airflow Control Unit?
CAV constant airflow control units are damper-based control devices used to maintain a specified airflow rate in ventilation ducts. They are used to provide the fresh-air requirement of spaces at a constant rate or to remove exhaust air in a controlled way.
They help maintain the set airflow rate despite changes in system pressure. As a result, a more balanced operation is achieved in terms of air distribution, energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
Mechanical and Motorised CAV Units
Mechanical CAV Unit
A constant airflow damper that regulates itself mechanically. It provides constant airflow control with an airflow deviation of ±10% without requiring an electric actuator.
- Does not require an electric actuator.
- Can be applied in round or rectangular sections.
- Can be installed horizontally or vertically.
Motorised CAV Unit
A constant airflow damper operated by an electric actuator. It helps maintain the fresh-air or exhaust-air volume at a constant level through motor control in ventilation systems.
- Provides constant airflow control through an electric actuator.
- Can operate with an airflow deviation of ±10%.
- Can be fitted with insulation, a silencer and a heater.
Technical Features
Technical Structure of CAV Control Units
Supply and Extract Lines
Can be used in fresh-air supply and exhaust/extract lines.
Airtight Casing
Helps reduce duct air leakage through its special gasket and casing structure.
Adaptation to Pressure Changes
Supports maintaining the set airflow rate when system pressure changes.
Optional Equipment
Insulation, a silencer and a heater can be added.
Application and Installation Notes
Circular CAV Units
Designed for circular ducts. Their special gasket structure contributes to air tightness and is suitable for horizontal or vertical installation. The recommended operating air velocity is approximately 4.5 m/s and should not be lower than 2.7 m/s.
Rectangular CAV Units
Designed for rectangular ducts. The universal flange structure on the casing can adapt to different duct flange systems. Modular production can be considered for large dimensions and high airflow rates.
Installation Considerations
Airflow accuracy depends on a smooth airflow pattern at the duct inlet. Elbows, duct branches, contractions and expansions can create turbulence. Therefore, some installations require a straight duct section upstream. In applications with duct branches, sufficient straight length must be provided upstream for stable control.
