Exhaust Hose Reels
Spring- or Motor-Driven Exhaust Hose Reels for Vehicle Workshops, Garages and Test Bays
Exhaust hose reels are hose-retraction systems designed to capture vehicle exhaust fumes close to the source in service centres, maintenance workshops, test bays and enclosed garages.
A spring- or motor-driven reel retracts the flexible hose neatly when it is not in use. Therefore, it reduces clutter in the working area and supports the safe operation of the exhaust extraction line.
Spring or Motor-Driven Reel
The hose can be retracted by a spring mechanism or a motor-driven reel system.
Vehicle Exhaust Extraction
The system captures exhaust fumes close to the vehicle outlet and reduces their spread through enclosed spaces.
150°C / 300°C / 450°C
Standard, high-temperature and specialist heat-resistant hoses can be selected according to the application.
What Is an Exhaust Hose Reel?
An exhaust hose reel extracts vehicle fumes or process-contaminated air through a flexible hose. When the hose is not required, the reel stores it neatly above the working area.
The system consists of a metal support frame, winding drum, flexible crush-resistant hose, extraction nozzle, spring or motor-driven retraction mechanism, limit or stop switch and, where required, an exhaust fan connection. On motor-driven models, a remote control or control system can operate the hose.
For independent workplace guidance, see the HSE guidance on vehicle exhaust emissions.
How Exhaust Hose Reels Work
Extend the Hose
The operator pulls the flexible hose from the reel to the required working length.
Connect the Nozzle
The stainless-steel or rubber nozzle is connected to the vehicle tailpipe or extraction point.
Extract the Exhaust Fumes
The hose carries the fumes towards a fan, central duct or dedicated exhaust extraction system.
Retract onto the Reel
After use, the spring or motor-driven mechanism retracts the hose neatly onto the reel.
