What Is an FFU LAF Cabinet? Design Requirements

FFU LAF Cabinet systems provide controlled, unidirectional airflow to reduce airborne particle contamination in critical work zones. They are used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, electronics, laboratories and clean production environments where product protection is essential.

FFU LAF Cabinet Operating Principle

Fan filter units move air through HEPA or ULPA filtration and deliver it across the working area in a vertical or horizontal unidirectional flow. The final airflow pattern, filter class and qualification method must be selected according to the process, risk assessment and applicable standards.

The fan filter unit draws air into the system and passes it through the selected high-efficiency filter.

Filtered air enters the cabinet as a stable, unidirectional vertical or horizontal airflow.

Correct layout and working practices help minimise turbulence and protect sensitive products from airborne particles.

Fan Filter Unit (FFU)

The motorised unit circulates air through the filter and supports the required airflow volume.

HEPA or ULPA Filter

Filter efficiency class and integrity testing must match the required cleanliness and process conditions.

Unidirectional Airflow

Lighting System

Integrated lighting supports clear and comfortable work in the controlled zone.
