Rapid Blast Damper
High-Flow Explosion-Pressure Protection with FC-BRV-02-E(M) Rapid Blast Damper
Rapid blast damper is a dedicated blast damper solution for HVAC, exhaust, process ventilation and critical-area protection applications that require both high airflow and explosion-pressure protection.
The FC-BRV-02-E(M) rapid blast damper allows high ventilation airflow during normal operation. Then, when explosion pressure occurs, it closes within milliseconds and helps limit the pressure impulse entering the protected area. Its manual-reset and self-locking closure keep the damper safely closed after an event.

Closure in Under 8 ms
It fully closes in under 8 ms under 200 kPa reflected peak pressure and helps reduce pressure-impulse transfer.
High Airflow
In its normal open position, it supports high ventilation volume. A 500 × 500 mm model can provide exhaust airflow of up to 3,800 m³/h at a 100 Pa pressure difference.
Manual Reset Safety
The blades lock in the closed position after the blast wave. Operators reopen the damper with a manual reset.
What Is a Rapid Blast Damper?
A rapid blast damper is a mechanical safety device. It closes very quickly when explosion pressure occurs and helps limit the pressure impulse travelling through an HVAC duct, exhaust line or air intake toward a protected area.
FC-BRV-02-E(M) rapid blast dampers can serve oil and gas, chemical, energy, marine, mining and civil-defence applications. These sites often need both high airflow and dependable explosion-pressure protection.
How the Rapid Blast Damper Works
Normal Open Position
The damper blades remain open. Therefore, the ventilation system can maintain high airflow.
Explosion Pressure
When a blast wave develops, reflected peak pressure acts on the damper blades and initiates fast closure.
Millisecond Closure
Next, the blades close in under 8 ms under 200 kPa reflected peak pressure.
Locked Closed Position
Finally, the self-locking mechanism holds the damper closed. A manual reset is required before reopening.

Certificates and Tests
The FC-BRV-02-E(M) rapid blast damper can be evaluated as a product range that has undergone type-testing processes with AMCA and TÜV. Review the applicable test reports during project planning and procurement.
Its ATEX-certified construction can suit applications that require safe operation in gas and dust atmospheres with an explosive-atmosphere risk.
Corrosion Resistance
Chemically resistant material options are important for industrial sites with corrosion risk, marine applications, offshore platforms and aggressive process atmospheres.
316L and 304L stainless steel options suit applications that require high corrosion resistance. Hot galvanized steel and epoxy-coated steel can also be assessed according to project conditions.
