Venturi Scrubber Systems
Wet Scrubbing Solutions for Dust, Fumes, Acidic / Alkaline Gases, CO₂ and Process Exhaust
Venturi Scrubber Systems are used to remove contaminated air, gases, fumes, fine particles and selected chemical pollutants from industrial processes. These high-efficiency wet scrubbing systems bring pollutants into contact with a liquid phase.
Air velocity rises in the Venturi throat, creating intensive contact between liquid droplets and pollutant particles or gases. The system can be engineered for CO₂, acidic / alkaline gases, process exhaust, flue gas, reactor ventilation and chemical-plant exhaust with project-specific materials, nozzles and scrubbing chemistry.

50 – 30,000 CFM Airflow
Custom designs are available for low and high airflow requirements.
Up to 99% Efficiency
High removal efficiency can be targeted according to pollutant type, chemical solution and contact time.
Multiple Material Options
PP, PP+FRP, carbon steel, SS 304 and SS 316 construction options are available.
What Is a Venturi Scrubber?
A Venturi scrubber is a wet gas-cleaning system that accelerates contaminated gas through a constricted throat. The gas then contacts the scrubbing liquid intensely. The accelerated gas stream breaks up liquid droplets and increases the contact area with particles and gas components.
These systems can be used for industrial exhaust cleaning, process ventilation, reactor vent lines, flue-gas scrubbing, chemical-plant exhaust, CO₂ removal and chemical absorption of different gas pollutants. Single-stage, multi-bed or chemical-dosing-controlled designs are selected according to the application.
Venturi Scrubber Operating Principle
Contaminated Air Inlet
A fan conveys contaminated air containing CO₂, fumes, process gases or particles into the scrubber system.
Acceleration in the Venturi Throat
The gas stream accelerates in the constricted section and creates high-energy contact with the scrubbing liquid.
Chemical Absorption
Pollutant gases react with a suitable chemical solution or sorbent and are transferred into the liquid phase.
Mist Separation and Clean Air Discharge
A mist eliminator reduces liquid carryover before treated air is discharged from the system.
CO₂ Scrubber Mechanism
In CO₂ scrubber applications, contaminated air contacts a chemical solution or sorbent material that can bind carbon dioxide molecules. CO₂ then transfers from the gas phase to a liquid or solid phase, and treated air leaves the system.
In alkaline scrubbing scenarios, CO₂ can react with a sodium hydroxide solution to form sodium carbonate. In regeneration scenarios, carbonate compounds may be converted back into reusable chemicals through suitable reactions.
Absorption reaction: 2NaOH(aq) + CO₂(g) → Na₂CO₃(aq) + H₂O(l)
Regeneration reaction: Na₂CO₃(aq) + Ca(OH)₂(s) → 2NaOH(aq) + CaCO₃(s)
